Emmanuel Dasor defied the bad weather to clock 46.14 seconds to win the men’s 400 metres ahead of his compatriot Daniel Gyasi, who finished second in 46.45 seconds, while Nigeria’s Erayokan Orukpe placed third in 46.52 seconds.

Another Ghanaian, John Ampomah, won the men’s javelin with a throw of 73.73metres ahead of Nigerian’s Kenechukwu Ezeofor (67.32metres) and Friday Osayande (64.74metres), who settled for second and third positions respectively.

Dasor later proved his 400metres victory was not a fluke when he anchored Ghana‘s 4x400metres relay, comprising George Effah, Daniel Gyasi and Kwadwo Acheampong, clocking a time of 3:04.72 seconds.

Nigeria led by Erayokan finished second with a time of 3:04.77 seconds, while Botswana came third in 3:06.49 seconds.
