The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the fur coat he wore in Germany belongs to his wife.
A picture of Nketia in the winter coat went viral in Ghana with many mocking him for wearing a woman’s coat.
However speaking on Kumasi based radio station, Hello FM, Mr. Nketia also known as General Mosquito said he does not care about the mockery over his fashion faux pas as he was on a business trip not a fashion show.
“What I will tell them is that when we [government] embark on a state visit, we are going for brain work, not a fashion show. We are going to use our brains to help the country, not that we are going to showcase our attire at fashion show.”
He further stated that he would have rather been agitated if he had been accused of buying expensive things with state funds.
“If they had said that I had embezzled state funds and had gone to Oxford street and others , buying expensive things, I would have been ashamed..”
“Ghanaians should keep on talking if they think my decision to wear my wife’s winter coat was a bad thing”
Asiedu Nketia said he is unperturbed by the criticism since no “white man” alerted him that what he was “wearing was for a woman”
