Asamoah Gyan has assumed full responsibility for his suspected knee injury suffered in Al Ain’s 3-1 win over Al Dhafra on Friday.
The 29-year-old came on as a substitute for Al Ain just over 24 hours of his return from a successful international assignment with the Black Stars.
Gyan who has been in free-goalscoring form was desperate to register his name on the scoresheet once more again and might have over-worked himself to achieve this target despite being adviced against exerting himself by Al Ain cpach Zlatko Dalic.
He emerged worse off after a collision with the opposing goalkeeper.
The Black Stars captain though confident his injury is not as serious asfeared says he is to be fully
blamed for it.
“I feel much better and my injury is not cause for concern,” he said.
“I had the desire in me to hit the target and I am solely responsible for the injury
“Zlatko [Al Ain coach] asked me not to rush the field but I did everything to score a goal.”
The club is expected to release the extent of damage and estimated return date for the Ghana captain once further examinations on the injury are concluded.
